Take a review of Amazon and search for products tagged “Dr. Oz.” The result: 29,404 products, primarily with marketing claims such as “As Seen around the Dr. Oz Show” and “Endorsed By Dr. Oz.” Reality check: Popular talk show host Dr. Mehmet Oz neither endorses, produces nor recommends almost all of those products. The only ones truly linked to Dr. Oz are his books, including “YOU: Losing Weight: The Owner’s Manual to Simple and Healthy Weight Loss” (click for details) and “YOU: The Owner’s Manual, Updated and Expanded Edition: An Insider’s Guide to the Body that Will Make You Healthier and Younger” (click to order). But it’s unfortunately all to easy to get duped by supplement companies who use Dr. Oz’s name to trade their goods. To help make it clear which he is not associated with such companies, Dr. Oz has created an Oz Watch, and repeatedly emphasizes on his talk show and Web site that he considers these businesses being participating in “reckless and dangerous” marketing practices.
